    CWS Tank Not Draining

Yes, they're all at the bottom of the tank, hot outlet is slightly higher which I believe is correct (avoids scalding under mixers if tank runs dry).

    Shower door where to buy

I'd recomend one of these. http://www.bathstore.com/_application/bathstore/products/showers/shower-enclosures/atlas/slider-doors/ I've had two of them and I've not found better quality. Don't pay more than 350 for it, that 700 price is pure fantasy.

    CWS Tank Not Draining

I have a conventional CWS tank in the loft which feeds a hot water tank in the airing cupboard. The CWS tank has three outlets, 28mm to the hot tank, 22mm to the rest of house cold and 22mm dedicated feed to a shower pump. When I try to drain the tank by shutting off the supply to the ball...

    Fitting Window Contacts

When I suggested contacts are more reliable than PIRs I meant fundamentally. Won't a PIR trigger if a fly lands on it or a spider crawls over it? I have read that vibration sensors are prone to false alarms? I don't plan to use trunking and all the cables can be buried in the plaster...

    Scantronic 9452 to Odyssey 1

I'm replacing the bell boxes connected to my Scantronic with 2 X Odyssey 1. This is how I think they should be wired: Can anyone confirm this is right? It seems straightforward apart from TR. What does that stand for? Questions: 1. Does the second bell just connect to exactly...

    Fitting Window Contacts

Sorry, I'm not with you. What is waste of time? Fitting window contacts or trying to hide the wiring? I want to fit contacts because I think they are less prone to false alarms than PIRs and I can full set the alarm at night and still walk around the house.

    Fitting Window Contacts

Any tips for neatly fitting window contacts? I have PIRs at the moment but plan to fit contacts as I decorate each room. It's running the wire from the contact to the plaster work, where it will be buried, that would seem to be unavoidable and unsightly. The windows are uPVC double glazed...

Premier 24 and remote key fobs

That's a shame. The 48 is a bit OTT. Not a huge price difference though. I just want to be able to disarm the alarm and open a garage door with the same remote key fob. Thanks.

How difficult is it to install a basic domestic alarm?

I moved into a new house six months ago with hopeless security. I too concentrated on the "other jobs" mainly the bathroom. Since I was burgled and consequently had my car stolen in aggravated circumstances, I can not tell you how insignificant these "other jobs" seem. Secure what you've got...

Premier 24 and remote key fobs

I read on a suppliers site that the Texecom Premier24 panel is not compatible with remote keyfobs (using the RadioPlus Intelligent receiver) and I will need the Premier48 panel. Can anyone confirm or deny? Thanks.

    SAB or SCB

    OK, got it. Thanks.

    SAB or SCB

I'm looking at getting a couple of Texecom Odyssey boxes and they are configurable as SAB or SCB. Question: Why would I want an SCB, rather than just using two SABs? Is there some advantage of SCB mode? I though using one SAB and one SCB was just for cheapness. Thanks.

    Bell Box Resilience

    Good news. Thanks.

    Bell Box Resilience

I've heard that a common way to bypass an alarm is to fill the bell box with expanding foam. Is there a defence against this apart from putting the boxes in inaccessible positions? Thanks.

    New Alarm Suggestions

The IP addressable cameras are to take still images and immediately transmit them off site to a remote server, when the alarm is triggerred. This is in the hope that they can later be used for idetification of the scum by the police. DVR recording is OK but the resolution won't be up to much...
