A new one's been ordered. I always look after my knob!
This one belonged to somebody else... I'm guessing he's automobilious-infertile if he abuses his knobs like that.
I pulled the knob off easily with a firm wiggle and a tug (thanks to youtube) ;)
Shiny new knob ordered from eBay (plus some alloy brake and clutch pedal covers as the brake pedal was worn down on one corner; but can't find an alloy accelerator pedal cover anywhere). :/
I gave up. It was too damaged to repair. :(
Tried Silvo, T-cut, car repair kit (super fine sandpaper etc.). Got rid of most of the scratches but showed up the copper-coloured layer underneath.
Found a fake replacement on eBay for £24.
And... I just worked out that I don't hold the gear stick...
Yes could be. I've just bought it. Possibly a female driver before me. The rest of the car is in immaculate condition (or very well repaired). I'll try polishing it off or replacing it if that doesn't work.
I have a scratchy knob! ;)
Please see photo.
Can it be restored?
What's the best / safest thing to try?
Wire wool?
Brasso?
T-cut?
other?
Thanks in advance.
