    I thought about that. Maybe that grey 90 degree plastic thing can be replaced with a metal one with a valve? I wasn't even able to find PTFE tape or any sealing compound today. All the plumbing places seem closed until tomorrow. I'll go and ask someone when they are open again.

    I managed to get the cistern off. Easy once the mains is off. The flexi was very loose where it attached the plastic inlet. Came off easily in my hand. I went out to get a new flexi pipe, but nowhere seemed to have a short 150mm one. So for now I've fitted the old flexi back on and tighened it...

    I have a slow leak on a toilet cistern. It seems to be coming from the top of the flexi pipe that feeds the cistern. There doesn't seem to be an isolation valve on here. So I guess I would need to kill the mains at the stopcock to work on this? The main problem, though, is how I would even get...

    I wonder if I should tape over the top of what's left of the existing plaster, or should I take back some more? Is the paper tape the best or sticky fibre glass mesh?
