    Changing an Extractor Fan.

Yes I know they are expensive. I used to work for WF Electrical and managed to buy it then. We did look into the same one first but was told like I said the one we have is as good. I think I may have bought the transformer with the original now. I will look on ebay. Thank you

    Changing an Extractor Fan.

The old fan was working but making a high pitched noise, so as you say if we havn't knackered the transformer it should still work with exactly the same fan. I think we will put the old one back just to see if the transformer is still working ok, if so we will opt for exactly the same fan...

If we buy the same fan we had before, why will we have to change the transformer?

The new fan is a Mentis ME100/4HT 220-240 50 Hz 20w. We are trying to connect to the new fan not transformer.

The old fan was a Greenwood Airvac AXS100SVIHT 12v-50Hz 20w. There is a switch outside the bathroom above the door and a box on the other side in the bathroom.

    Changing an Extractor Fan.

We have just bought an ME100/4HT Humidity Model Extractor fan as our old one was making a terrible noise when it came on. The seller told us this is exactly the same as our old model but different make. I asked on this site last night how to wire it back up as we could not get the fan to...

    Extractor Fan

Sorry I meant black to neutral, grey to live switched and brown to permanent live.

    Extractor Fan

The reason we put black in the neutral was because there was a black feeding into it the other side from the fan. So what you are saying is ignore that and try grey.

    Extractor Fan

Yes it did have a timer and came on when we switched the light on. It carried on when the light was switched off until it timed out or humidity was ok.

Will we be ok leaving it how we have wired it up until the morning now as we will be in the dark trying to change it.

We do not have any means of testing the wires and no nothing tripped at all.
