Adding to HarryM1BYT's description of his circuit board fix for his Hotpoint WD420. I'm guessing all the Hotpoint range use the same circuit board as my Hotpoint Ultima WT741 washing machine developed the exact same fault. For the faint hearted who are concerned about doing this fix...

The failed capacitor as seen from the opposite side of the capacitor cluster on the board showing the domed top more clearly.

Note the negative polarity markings on the side of the capacitor in relatioin to the board.<br>The positive leg is actually printed on the circuit board surface.

You can see the slight doming of the top of the capacitor as described by HarryM1BYT in his post.

Arrowed is the failed 680mF 10 Volt capacitor that has caused all the heart ache.

Circuit board unplugged from wiring harness and removed from machine but still in protective plastic case.
