    your little henry hoover is not up to the job. I did a similar thing in my loft and found a bosch gas 50 off ebay for £50..!! its absolutely awesome. You can stich the pipe end into a pile of rubble/dust, and so long as it will physically go up the pipe, it will just keep going...

    go to the local B&Q.. find a roll of 10mm cable and snip an inch off the end.. (without the staff seeing you) !!! then compare that to the cable you have..!! alternatively if you can accurately measure the solid copper core (ie with a micrometer.! ) of the conductors (not the CPC) it...
