I would use mains leds. Forget the transformers, loads of hassle. Mains much easier just wire them up in a loop. Job done. More reliable.

Yes, I did point that out, the excuse was its been fitted so no exchange.

Update, went back to the shop, well known electrical factors, refused to take it back, no led drivers in stock and expensive so swapped them out for mains GU10s. :)

So what's the difference between these electrically? The transformer I have works some of the time and flickers some of the time.

Ah, so the transformer needs to specify for Leds. Makes sense! The guy sold me the wrong things. So I need a bulb with the driver integrated into the fitting?

Cut out plaster pieces with the correct size. Cut small timber batten, put over the hole. Pull down with looped string and secure with plast screw. Screw round board into hole. Fill with filler. Job done. Be done in a coupla hours or so.
