Dot and dab cold spot / damp?

Thanks. All copings and flaunchings have been checked and renewed. All chimneys pointed. Neighbour's parapet renderer, ours checked, sealed and all cracks filled. Flashings are in good order, no cracked tiles. Non Operational chimney vented and capped (with vented cap). Not sure what else to do...

Dot and dab cold spot / damp?

Thanks Chappers. I think I'll stick to batten and insulated board. Not sure if I need to DPM paint and vcl layer too? It's marginal cost and time as the room will be recarpeted and decorated. Is that unnecessary?

Dot and dab cold spot / damp?

Gents, Does the foil on the back of the insulated plasterboard serve as an adequate DPM to prevent any further bridging? If so I'd be happy with my builder's proposal to use dab again. Otherwise surely battening is the best route?

Dot and dab cold spot / damp?

Thanks. And what do I do if the brick work does prove to be damp? With regards to re-dabbing it, I was planning to batten to minimise contact between board and wall, but does most insulated plasterboard have an inbuilt DMP? Also, what would your belt and braces suggestion be? The room will...

Dot and dab cold spot / damp?

Good point. Not sure about a flu liner. Thanks for info on stacks. Only our roof was new as the loft was converted. His wasn't. His parapet was cracked all over, so he had it re rendered last march, our was repointed, along with the flaunchings tidied, stacks pointed and flashings checked. I...

Dot and dab cold spot / damp?

I see. Noseall may have saved the day with the news on the velux trickle vents. The room does get warm in summer, it's a 4 bed house. Do I have consensus that pointing, dpm painting, vcl layering, battening and boarding is the way forward? Maybe I should salt neutralise chimneys too? Thanks all!

Dot and dab cold spot / damp?

Sorry, I missed this. I'm not sure if I have a breathable roof membrane, but the roof is 8/9 years old, the membrane is green. How else can I tell? The veluxs don't have trickle vents!

Dot and dab cold spot / damp?

Operational chimney is gas. The other is a vented cap, and open below. It's the damp in the middle of the wall which has thrown me. It must be coming from my nieighbours side right? Stacks and flaunchings all good. Roof new 8/9 years ago, lead work good, tiles good. Had 3 roofers up there, none...

Dot and dab cold spot / damp?

Thanks Vinn. Chimneys haven't been swept. One chimney is operational (left) the other is not, but capped. Will try And get some photos from outside tomorrow. My neighbour claims his side isn't fine, not damp. Ive just finished a rear extension where he was difficult so I'd like to keep him out...

Dot and dab cold spot / damp?

Thanks noseall! Really useful to be getting some consensus. How do you suggest I loft ventilate? Vents in loft ceiling? This room is en suite but has a suitable fan in the bathroom, and the room in question has two veluxs

Dot and dab cold spot / damp?

Thanks Doggit. What do you think could be causing this. Shall I repoint the large gaps in the mortar?
