Well, the braided loop has been changed and a new filling valve has been fitted...a much better one with a turn grip so no more messing around with a screw driver 8)
It doesn't appear to be overflowing any more and heating and water appears to be working fine again.

Thanks fellas, we had -4 overnight down here so the water that was draining out froze all over the roof out the back :shock:
I'm hoping the problem is just confined to the valve at the braided hose. I'll get that replaced and I'll update again :D
