I'm not condoning manufacturers misleading the public, however, the way anything is used clearly affects an outcome. Plez see #32

Yes, i am placing myself directly in the IR beam. And when i move out of the beam it's because i'm either going out or don't need the beam any longer. The way i use it clearly does make a difference, plez see #32.

Really? Sorry but I don't think so. I can just about keep the palm of my hand on the front of my IR heater. About the same as i keep my hot water set to. It is certainly NOT red heat. It's not even 90C as someone else said. And BTW, the back of it is lukewarm - although i have always wondered...

Floats, YES. But any fan heater would BLOW any dust/pollen/whatever that was around. There's a BIG difference. Plus the convection does not start until furniture and things start to get warmed up. Fan heaters BLOW as soon as you switch them on.

Yesterday i was up before 6 and it was nippy. As i sat down with my breky and coffee i switched IR panel heater on and before i'd eaten half a bowl of cereal all around me was warming. I felt like that old Ready-Break TV advert/nuclear energy skit. However, the rest of the room was not warmed -...

I am only concerned with the efficiency of heating me. You are right about the conservation of energy but i don't want to warm, and stir up, the air. Plus it's not just Good Housekeeping. i've just found a number of other saying similar, e.g. Please note the citation: "also very energy...

Thanks for replying. And i want to heat me - not the room. I also don't want to create dust floating around, or make a noise.

I've not switched it on so i can't confirm but the sales blurb & pics specifically claim the IR only goes forward, ok the unit itself may well get hot but i can turn it down to 35C and that suits me as i don't want warming massively quickly, gentle warming is far better and probably far more...

That is precisely what i want. I do not want to warm the whole room, just a bit of direct heat on me. BUT without stirring up any dusty particles.

Thanks for reading/replying Harry but with a quick Google i found that Good Housekeeping would seem to disagree, viz:

Thanks for your reply foxhole: 1) Sorry 2) 95 deg C at the front (can't find any details of rear temp). 3) Please cite/check your facts. IR panels convert 98% of elec in to heat output. Most other heaters are 30-50% efficient - at best! Ok they are a bit expensive to buy but if i can run them...
