Another cold radiator query (does not keep heat)

Problem is now solved. At first I thought it might be an air lock issue after reading another thread https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/one-radiator-heating-intermittently.476481/ But I realised the TRV was loose so tightened it up but radiator went off again. I loosened the TRV again (but this...

Another cold radiator query (does not keep heat)

Hello, I have a central heating radiator that heats up nicely from top to bottom but it does not keep its heat. When boiler stops pumping hot water it turns cold very quickly. All other radiators in house are fine. Any ideas what the problem could be? Perhaps rusted up on inside so does not...

    Callibrating Thermostatic radiator valves (trv's)

No, they are Optima A7's yes, the radiator is cold on three and hot on four... so not much variation! the system is not balanced, but I thought the idea was to get the TRVs calibrated so it can be balanced e.g. bedroom on three, livingroom on four, bathroom on two, etc

Need wood filler which will take a screw

Just thought I'd seen a polyfiller that could take a screw. But if you gentlemen didn't mention it must be that it was for a different application.

    Callibrating Thermostatic radiator valves (trv's)

Hello. My radiators have trv's...you know the ones with numbers 0 to 5...0 for shut and 5 for fully open. Except mine are all different e.g. shuts at 3 and max at 4. So, is callibrating/configuring the trv's a DIY job? Can it be fixed? Thank you, Hajj

Hello. I have a number of airbricks in my house to ventilate under the suspended wooden flooring. How would you recommend insect proofing them? I thought of taking up the floor boards and then nailing gauze accross the airvent (on the house side). This job would be a bit trick: the need the take...

    Boiler repair or water softener?

The fault has been detected on two-lever mixer taps in th ebatthroom and kitchan, not just the one-lever shower mixer. Flowrate of hotwater was high. Cold water was off. Plumber said £65/hr and h/ex about £80, although I saw some for about £50 online. He said cleaning it with acid will just...

    Boiler repair or water softener?

Hello. Thanks for both replies. Yes, I have heard the boiler stopping and starting without getting really fired up at approx. 20 sec intervals, like you say. But I think it depends on the flowrate of the hot water. I turned the shower down from the beginning an could have an uniterrupted...

    Boiler repair or water softener?

Hello, this is my first post so I don't know if I can set up a voting poll on the forum. We have been thinking of getting a water softener to soften the mains water, but now our boiler (Baxi Combi 105e) is playing up. The hot water goes cold. It eventually heats up again or we can switch the...
