Even though the wall suffers from condensation? Will it not come through the plasterboard over time? Or are you saying that because it is insulated the wall won’t get warm and so the condensation won’t built up? Thanks @motorbiking.
Hi all.
I've read conflicting things about how to do what I'd like to accomplish so thought I'd post my own question as everyone's circumstances are different so here goes.
I live in an end-of-terrace circa 1906 property with cavity walls. Both internal and external walls are of red brick...
There’s nothing that I know of, just the roof. There is a boarded off section in the loft where the roof slopes down to the eaves and it’s only in the corner section of the house in the area above this slab. So it’s feasible there may have been a chimney or flue of some sort there at one time.
Hi. I need some advice on a concrete slab that I’ve recently found under the floor boards in my daughters bedroom on the first floor. It’s in the corner of the room adjacent to the two exterior walls (and coldest walls).
I’ve always had issues with damp patches on these walls and very much in...
I’ve tried pulling the lever handle and prizing but didn’t want to do it too hard for fear of damaging the chrome. The horizontal part that connects the tap handle to the spout rotates but is limited by the handle so I guess I’ll try a bit harder prizing it off.
My kitchen tap is leaking on both the cold and hot taps but more so on the hot and I’ve fallen at the first hurdle. I can’t figure out how to take it apart to see if it’s the washers. No branding other than the kitchen was bought from howdens. Can anyone advise? Pictures below.
Thanks in advance.
Hi.
I'm adding an extra 170mm of insulation to my loft but I have electrical wiring running around. It's basic wiring for the lights in the bedrooms and bathroom but I wondered if they will be alright covered up? They are covered in places by 100mm (which is the reason I'm topping up as it's...
Hi all. I live in a circa 1903 victorian end of terrace house and last year I stripped the walls of the end room of its wallpaper as there was damp and mould in the bottom corner. I have since treated this area of mould with anti mould paint and it hasn't come back in over a year. However, on...
Hi.
I have an extension with a pitched roof and exposed rafters with skylights but it gets very cold outside of summer. It has a fibreboard ceiling that bows and has cracks in places (see pictures) and I want to insulate it as best I can.
Firstly, are the fibreboards worth keeping or should...
I've exposed the brickwork in my fireplace and I wondered if I needed to treat the brick at all to withstand the heat? I have log burning fire stove so most of the heat will be contained but wondered if I needed to seal the brick at all?? Picture below:
