Did not get too far with replacing the bearings. The fan boss was rusted to the shaft and just would not budge, even with a little heat. Did not want to risk damaging the fan, so all back together and thankfully still working. There was no oil on the oil pump shaft, so will just have to put up...

Many thanks for your replies. I have had problems with leaking oil seals before - Danfoss RSA - and there was a fair bit of oil on the plate below. Sounds like a strip down, so I will replace the bearings anyway and inspect the pump.
