What the best way to go mr16 led of gu10 led

I can't think of a single reason why you'd want to bother with ELV interior downlights. The 'cons' listed above sum it up nicely. And also if a transformer fails you probably have to dismantle the ceiling to get to it.

Annoying leak running down chimney stack in loft

You reckon it's coming in that way, and not at the bottom of the chimney then?

Annoying leak running down chimney stack in loft

Hi all, Last year during the storms I noticed that there was water dripping down from the top of the chimney stack onto the loft floor, appearing to originate from where the roof joins the chimney. Since then, I have had a roofer out 3 times to look at it. The first time they repointed some...

    Downlights - Remove Ceiling Noggins??

Agreed, that’s what bedside lamps are for :) and you can then turn on the ceiling lights when you actually want to see what you’re doing.

    Downlights - Remove Ceiling Noggins??

You're allowed to have more than one light source in a bedroom, you know. I don't understand the hatred for downlights. They're a modern, tidy way of throwing a decent amount of light into a room. No, you don't want them on full blast when you're just relaxing in bed or on the sofa, but...

Adjusting window that has dropped ever so slightly

Thanks guys, but I don't think lubing the hinges is going to lift up the slightly dropped window :)

Adjusting window that has dropped ever so slightly

Hi all, When pulling one of our kitchen windows closed, the bottom corner metal fixtures rub as shown in this photo: It's not severe - if I lift the window from the outside just a tiny bit, it clears it. It shuts perfectly otherwise. The windows were fitted in 2005, and every other one in...

Which cable to run up to loft?

Ethernet - definitely Aerial - definitely, if it's easy You could run some RG6 coax to allow for extension of Virgin Media services (i.e. another set top box), if you can get it to the right place HDMI - what's the point? Any media devices will be located up there, surely?

Drilled too big hole in brick - how best to recover it

Quite. I think most people massively overestimate what is required to hold the average modern LCD TV up. A £10 bracket from Amazon and half a dozen (if you're feeling generous) plain old screws and rawlplugs is all you need.

Worcester Greenstar 24i Junior - Nest Thermostat - only works if external stat is in place

How many times do I need to state that isn't not my boiler, just a photo I found online? :D

Worcester Greenstar 24i Junior - Nest Thermostat - only works if external stat is in place

Thank you. I've checked the user manual and it only mentions a "temporary override": "While the RF link is lost, the Central Heating can be switched ON by pressing the OK button once and switched OFF by pressing the OK button again. In this mode the room temperature will not be controlled"...

Worcester Greenstar 24i Junior - Nest Thermostat - only works if external stat is in place

If the cover were to be removed, would it be "as simple as that"? It doesn't matter whether or not I set the HW to Timed or On, it will ignore the Nest's call for heat if the wireless stat is not calling for heat, for example if the batteries are dead, or you simply set it to a really low...

Worcester Greenstar 24i Junior - Nest Thermostat - only works if external stat is in place

Hi all, I have the above mentioned boiler. The Nest thermostat has been fitted and working perfectly for many months, but I noticed at the time the boiler would only operate if the original wireless thermostat was also operational. At the time I just left it but now I'd like to sort it, for...
