    Underfloor heating question

My utility room has a glass roof and has windows all around so it's more like a conservatory really so will probably get quite cold in the winter mornings. regards Homer

    Underfloor heating question

I'm thinking of having underfloor heating in the utility room, will it be ok to spur off the utility ring final circuit which has 2 unswitched single sockets for washing machine and tumble dryer and another 2 double sockets? Or can it be included in the ring? If so then what would I need to get...

    Utility and kitchen circuits

Back again with another question if I may  So if I have the 2.5mm cable from the 32a mcb running to the utility into an unswitched socket for each of the dryer and washing machine, can I spur up from each to a standard double socket above the counter? Or even run the cable to 2 double...

    Utility and kitchen circuits

I have total confidence in the electrician, he's currently away so I can't ask him anything. It's just me being eager to get everything ready as I need this thing finished before Christmas. I also thought I would just pick brains on here as opposed to pecking at his when he gets here. I'm just...

    Utility and kitchen circuits

I'll do the same for the dishwasher in the kitchen then, but not for the fridge freezer as I read somewhere today that a dedicated cable with no rcd is a good idea for fridge freezers as they would still run even if something trips. regards Homer

    Utility and kitchen circuits

Great, I wasn't sure if there was some sort of legal requirement for them so wanted to find out before suggesting it to the electrician, I already have one for the hob and oven but thankfully avoided having two by getting a dual outlet plate to put in the cupboard in between. So does each...

    Utility and kitchen circuits

When I last spoke to the electrician he did say the 2.5mm cable I already had was fine, It was just me wondering if It was going to be done in radials or rings as I would probably need to get a few more metres if rings. I'm not fussed if I have rings or radials really, makes no difference to...

Is it? I thought the options were 4mm radial or 2.5mm ring? regards Homer

    Utility and kitchen circuits

I don't really want 2 switches above the counter for dryer and washer but thought it had to be done that way, is there a better way round it? Do you mean just a normal switch for each? Electrician hasn't started yet but I want to get as much ready as possible including having all materials...

    Utility and kitchen circuits

Ok so I should have 2 switched fuse cu's one for tumble dryer and other for washing machine. It'll be 2.5mm so I guess it's rings then! So a spur from the live feed to the kitchen light will be ok for the extractor? Regards Homer

    Utility and kitchen circuits

Cracking on nicely with my refurb but need advice on the following before I start phase. Do I need to have ring circuits for the utility and kitchen or can I have radials? The kitchen will have 5 double sockets, 1 single inside the base unit next to and for the fridge freezer, 1 switched fuse...

Future proof oven and hob circuits

It isn't anywhere now as the kitchen is empty, I will fit it in one of the new base units in between the oven housing and hob drawer pack. I know the cables will be outside the box but they will go straight out through the bottom shelf of the unit and back up the service void, and at least...

Future proof oven and hob circuits

Not that simple I'm afraid, I have a single pattress box but it's smaller than the outlet plate meaning the bottom cables would be outside the box. It's to be fitted inside a base unit so I would rather have no visible cables, hence I need the specific box to suit the plate. Anyone know if...
