I am moving house so need to disconnect the gas oven and need to know how to do this. I'm not sure if this is a bayonet fitting or not. Can anyone advise please?

Well, following everybody's advice, I wrote to BG and within a week they phoned and a couple of days after that arranged to send round an engineer to rectify their work. Result! (Hopefully) They are coming tomorrow.
By the way I'm not quite an OAP yet. But I guess we all will be one day...
Thanks Tony for the advice and I plan to write to British Gas. Especially as when I called the installation manager back he found it difficult to admit that it could have been done any other way. He did admit it at one point then back-pedalled hard when I asked why I wasn't given the option at...
