Hi, an air admittance valve is normally a good solution, but what WILL work is one of these before the W/M inlet.

Tanking will make it dry but will cause and accelerate rot in the walls behind it (these walls support your house!)....not the solution. Good ventilation is the key. Pump in one end, pump out other end using a humidistat to control them.
