    More scratched windows.

Having cleaned my windows without any problem for more years than I can care to remember, we have just noticed that each of my new'ish double glazed units have the odd slight mark following a clean on Sunday. More than a mark, more a light scratch that is visbile when the sun shines. I've seen...

    Finishing a fireplace

Woody, many thanks for the reply. Job now done. Hearth in at second attempt as they got the measurements wrong the first time round - but that's another story! I've painted the render twice to first seal and then cover and it looks great. :D

    Finishing a fireplace

I'm in the process of having a multifuel stove installed. My existing fireplace has been widened and rendered with cement. However, the finish isn't brilliant and dusts. I want to paint this with emulsion. Presumably using PVA to seal the surface is out as the heat from the stove will be too...

Wiring Diagram for Central Heating System

Hi, I have a similar system. There is a Megaflo installation manual available Here http://www.ribaproductselector.com/document/pdf/3727/COL5103727/MEGAflo-Installation-Manual.aspx However, note that depending on how much of this installation you are planning to do there is a raft of...

    Unvented Water System Question

Yes, I agree. I assume the high limit thermostat is in the same area as the main tank thermostat. I haven't had a chance to look yet. However, as I've said earlier, this was never wired in originally. When the actuator burnt out the first time round I traced the wiring back and found it to be...

    Unvented Water System Question

Nope, they're both two port. The Honeywell is a V4043H and the Sunvic is one of the SZ23XX series (I'm trying to find out which one). Having looked into this in some more detail, am I right in thinking that the actuator should be linked to the high limit or energy cut out thermostat? If so...

    Unvented Water System Question

So my suspicion that it was never wired correctly in the first place could be confirmed. The Megaflo system is not factory wired - installed locally. I'll check with Megaflo. Thanks

    Unvented Water System Question

I've asked this one before but it was a long time ago..... I have a Megaflo system. On the flow side of the heating coil there are two zone valves in series. One is a Honeywell, the other is a Sunvic (next to the tank). The Sunvic one burnt out a while back and was causing the pump to run...

    Corsa Engine Management Light

Excellent links, I've now learnt about lambda sensors. As this is an old car it looks as though this could well be the problem (they tend to pack up after 50,000 miles). I might see if I can read the voltage output from the unit or just replace it anyway. Thanks for the advice - much...

    Corsa Engine Management Light

Spark123, thanks for the info. You're probably right about finding out exactly where the fault lies - another trip to Vauxhall. Out of interest, do you know how the lambda sensor works? Is it heat sensitive?

    Megaflo Pressurised Tank

I have an unvented hot water system with a Megaflo tank. The period between air gap recharges has been getting progressively shorter and it's obvious that something is wrong but I'd like to have an idea what it is before getting someone in to fix it. I've put a post about this before and was...

    Corsa Engine Management Light

Our 1996 1.4 petrol Corsa has had intermittent problems with the engine management light coming on. About a year ago Vauxhall diagnosed this to be the exhaust sensor. However, everything returned to normal so we didn't get it replaced. Recently the light has started to come on after a few...

    Megaflow recharge interval.

Well that's an interesting piece of news! I remember reading on their website that the air gap needed regenerating at intervals hence I've never given it a second thought. I'll give them a call and see what they suggest. Thanks

    Megaflow recharge interval.

I've had a Megaflow unvented system for just over 10 years. It's been fine, I normally recharge the air gap every six months. However, just recently the interval has been getting shorter and now it needs recharging every six weeks. Something is obviously not right. Any suggestions?
