Carpeting a floor - front door catching the carpet.

I've had another look around - this looks like the final solution for me :) Thanks to everyone for their help. https://www.nationalstairnosings.co.uk/aluminium-door-threshold-transition-strips-for-0-12mm-difference-in-floor-levels/

Carpeting a floor - front door catching the carpet.

Hello, sorry for the delay, I've been away. This sounds like the right solution - are the Z strips made so they can be "tapped" down with a mallet so they meet both side with a slight slope?

Carpeting a floor - front door catching the carpet.

Thanks for your idea - I had to look up coir doormat, this was an idea I already had (except not the coconut matting, which I like) It still has my original issue of the transition strip between the doormat space with no underlay and the carpeted space with underlay - the transition strip needs...

Carpeting a floor - front door catching the carpet.

Right I'm back, sorry for the delay, I've had a lot on. The hinges look like they have a small amount of adjustment, as you mentioned I could used this to "tilt" the door slightly, the idea was to lift the corner of the door away from the floor when it swings out. Extra checking reveals the...

Carpeting a floor - front door catching the carpet.

OK thanks - I'll examine the hinges later this week when I get an opportunity and see what the options are. I'll report back with progress (or lack thereof).

This is exactly the kind of comparison I was looking for - very helpful. Thanks very much.

Carpeting a floor - front door catching the carpet.

Thanks for this - I'd never thought of cork. I might be a good idea but everywhere I look the thermal properties of cork are listed as 0.038m2K/W which is meaningless to me. If possible, if you know, please can you advise roughly - 4mm cork is as good at insulating as 8/10/12/15 mm foam/felt...

Carpeting a floor - front door catching the carpet.

Hello all I'm looking for a bit of advice on floor coverings for a hall space, please see my attached image, it is quite a small space approx 5.2m2 The exit door in red, is UPVC in a UPVC frame, I cannot see any way to adjust the height of the door. The floor is black bitumen?? covered...

Fitting shower tray over floor drain - waste question.

Hello Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll go with Option 2 from my list above, but it may be a few weeks until I get to it, so might use the divider thing for a short term fix until I get the proper tray in place. Thanks to everyone for your help.

Fitting shower tray over floor drain - waste question.

Hello All I currently have a wet room which is 118cm wide and 2712cm long, the floor is completely covered with the usual thick waterproof vinyl with a designated shower area at the end with a drain set directly into the floor covering. There is an issue with the floor slope so a lot of the...

Found 1.5mm wire in my ring :(

Thanks for the suggestion, I think it would work. However, I reassessed last night, apparently there are 2 spare ways so I no longer have a need to retain the spare way.

Found 1.5mm wire in my ring :(

Replacing two of the lengths is proving to be difficult without a lot of collateral damage. Current best suggestion from AndyPRK I think is to convert to a 16a spur for the thin wires I cant replace, and add a new return to make the rest of it a proper 2.5mm ring.

Found 1.5mm wire in my ring :(

Hello, I made a diagram of the wiring. Colours and thickness are used to portray old/new cabling and difference between 2.5mm and 1.5mm. Thanks.

Found 1.5mm wire in my ring :(

For 19 years it has been a granny annexe. Granny no longer needs it, so I'm reworking it into 2 bedsits with shared lounge, kitchen and wetroom. I've added 2 x partition walls which contain new wiring and ring. But I've only just discovered the issue with the old ring.
