I used to have a sealed combi boiler, when i removed the radiator i wanted to replace i just turned the TRV to * and closed the 'from' valve.
You should then be able to pressure the system as normal and then bleed the other radiators as normal.

Thanks alot - bleeding the vent by the pump did the trick - as soon as i did that I could hear water rushing into the pump and the pump load up - it must have been pumping nothing but air.
Been round and bled all the rads again - will let system work for a bit then go round and do some more...
