Brass olives leaking should I overtighten?

Hi all, installed some isolation valves and installed some new copper 15mm pipe I was going to go full push to fit but the tap connector didn't fit the push to fit so I had to go for compression. The issue is in the past the olives have been copper and it felt easier to make a seal. Currently I...

How to join an ikea worktop?

Brilliant thank you, how needed are the clamps? The instructions don't mention it and the work top is 22mm thick I think so I feel if I router it it might go though ☺️

Hi all, Stuggling to find a joiner so going to fit 2 L shape thin work tops from IKEA :- https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/ekbacken-worktop-concrete-effect-laminate-60335651/ The instructions tell me to not biscuit or clamp them together but just push them up next to each other and add a bead of...

    Radial Confusion

ok so final result is i'll wire in the new plugs with 2.5 twin and earth, get everything set up for the consumer unit, buy the mcb and then get a profestional to hook up it all up in the consumer unit :) saves some cash and in theory no one gets a shock :) professional can test it after too and...

    Radial Confusion

Was thinking continuity tester then I thimk I need a machine to test the ohms too and voltage, not sure if I need a voltmeter or a more specialised bit of kit for that? Will test without anything plugged in then something plugged in to the new socket?

    Radial Confusion

not so helpful my friend but i understand the context and message behind it ;) hence why i've done nothing and i'm asking a lot of questions first :) I'm risk assessing the work before carrying out anything and if it turns out to be a complete nightmare i will get a professional in to carry...

    Radial Confusion

We swapped out the sockets in the living room last year and they all had one 2.5mm cable in them! it was a simple swap for the sockets in there. i guess it might well be a ring with loads of spurs off it then like you suggest! In that case i can spur from a spur if i isolate and fuse up before...

    Radial Confusion

It's not a bungalow, it's a none standard ex council house constructed in 1970. Sadly the whole of upstairs is now new floor and i can't pull it up to inspect, i can have a look in the loft though in a day or so when i'm back there. From everything i've read apart from inspecting the wires for...

    Radial Confusion

Hi all, Helping my partner at her house with a few jobs and she wants me to add some new sockets to her kitchen. i have read up on the subject but i'm a complete novice. From the looks of it it's a radial circuit. My reasoning for this is that every socket i took off had no 2 or 3 sets of...

Hi guys, Slightly concerned with some work i had done recently on my roof, i had a lot of moss on the roof, the lead was coming away from the chimney and also needed re-pointing and some tiles had cracked due to the moss & frost. They scraped the moss off tile by tile with a trowel and...
