    Question about radiators and TRV

Thanks - so in theory I can have the TRV partly open, and the pump will be okay? As long as it isn't completely closed?

    Question about radiators and TRV

Thanks for the quick reply, it has confirmed what I thought. So if the other TRVs are all completely turned off, one radiator needs to be left on. What if the other TRVs are partly open, does the same apply? Also, does that one radiator need to be on fully to protect the boiler, or can the...

Radiators cold upstairs hot downstairs!!! Help!!!

Was a Magnaclean installed at the same time? This happened to us and it turned out the Magnaclean had been incorrectly installed and the hot water was bypassing most of the radiators! We had it looked at and it works fine now.

Vaillant VRC470f controls very slow temperature change

Um - but they're not doing what I need... The temperature on the display doesn't get lower when it gets cold, and doesn't increase when it gets warm - isn't that what's meant to happen? Regarding not understanding them, this is because no-one has explained them to me, and I found the...

Vaillant VRC470f controls very slow temperature change

In what way don't I understand them? Can you give me some information that might help me understand them please?

    Question about radiators and TRV

We recently had a new boiler and controls (both Vaillant) installed, we also got TRVs on all of the radiators except the one in the room where the controls are - we were told this is because it could interfere with the thermostat. We were also told that one of the radiators must be left without...

Vaillant VRC470f controls very slow temperature change

So, the engineer came and eventually agreed that the controls were faulty - this was after I opened all the windows and doors to get the house really cold, and the temperature on the display didn't change at all! Anyway, he replaced them and said they should work from now on. He also said...

    Confused by Thermostat

I am having a similar problem with my Vaillant controls (set to work as a thermostat). When the heating comes on the house warms up noticeably, but the reading on the controls barely changes. I got an engineer out and he agreed they were faulty, he exchanged them but the new one isn't really any...

Vaillant VRC470f controls very slow temperature change

Thanks for the replies. Alec, the temperature is set at 22C for when we want the heating on, the set back temperature is 18C but it never goes down to this. It was set to ECO until the Vaillant engineer changed it a while ago, it is now on set back and has been for some time. I don't...

Vaillant VRC470f controls very slow temperature change

Thank you all for replying and sorry for the slow response. David, it is the 470f  Alec and Bunnyman, why set it to modulating rather than thermostat? The senior engineer who came out to help me set it up said it was better to leave it on thermostat... Alec, I understand that...

Vaillant VRC470f controls very slow temperature change

I hope someone can help with a problem we are having. We had a new Vaillant Eco Tec 831 and VRC 430f controls installed in July. We have had no end of problems with the controls - our installers didn't know how to set them up, and neither did the first Vaillant engineer who came out! We also...

Extractor fan in bathroom causing mould in loft

Wasn't intended to be rude - if you look at what other posters on here have written you will see that we have moved past the blame stage (as it's not clear cut whose fault it was) and onto solutions. Everyone else has been very helpful, though I was hoping someone could tell me what sort of...

Extractor fan in bathroom causing mould in loft

Thanks, think we've gone past the blame stage... Are you able to answer my question?

Extractor fan in bathroom causing mould in loft

So - just spoke to the electrician. He said he didn't realise the fan wasn't vented properly as he didn't go up in the loft - he just replaced the fan because it wasn't the right type. Whether or not it was his fault, I need to get this sorted out, so what type of tradesman do I need?
