    Union Valve Tail

Hi All I’m replacing my radiator, I had thrown the old one out but left the valve on the pipes. Now I went and bought these flomasta union valve tails from b and q. Screwed the half inch side to the radiator and the 3/4 inch side to the valve. The problem I have is the valve to tail is very...

    Shower valve and cover

I had no idea there was another type of inserts. I will get these. What’s the difference btw? The super seal appears to reach the stop in the inlet but I will check again.

    Shower valve and cover

Hi All. I’m trying to install an exposed traditional shower valve at 150mm centres. Problem i am having is when I tighten the nut on the valve if comes forward of the cover plate leaving the cover plate loose of the wall. Does this mean I need to cut more pipe? I don’t have any...

    Plumbing problems

Hi All Back for some more of your help and my not so great DIY skills. I have some issues, one is I can smell the sewer gases but the basin trap is full. So full that it is leaking out the top. Can just about see the shadow in the photo on the trap nut. It was a slimline Macalpine trap. The...

Washer for female thread to basin

Hi, Could you guys help me to identify what type of washer I need for this part. The flexis for hot and cold connect to the sides and the bit at the top connects onto the basin tap but the top bit leaks. I figure I need some sort of washer in there as it is just metal to metal. Internal...

This is a picture of the waste outlet from outside where it runs to the stack. Problem I have is that below existing waste there is a 9x2 joist approx 2m long

    Waste position

Hi All, I’m in the process of redoing the bathroom. Main change really is moving the sink to the adjacent wall. I’m stuck on the waste as it has been above the floor boards. I need to get a shower waste and the sink waste over to the existing waste. The shower tray will have riser kit but...

    Pushfit part

Thanks for this, turned into a real pita. The isolation valve had been put on backwards and the tap completely rusted couldn't even get the old Flexi out. Btw do I need to use the olive in the isolation valve?

    Pushfit part

Hi folks, Can you help me identify the part I need here. The two tails have well and truly rusted. I need to replace them with the isolator. The isolator is 15mm and then there seems to be some sort of connector between it and a smaller diameter push fit pipe, not sure on size, maybe 10mm...

    Rotten floor joists

Silly question but rather than cutting an aerated or concrete block to fit in the gaps could I use a paving block? It’s height of 50mm seems to fit gap better otherwise I’ll have to cut the other blocks in half.

    Rotten floor joists

Should the spliced piece be hung on joist hanger next to the new wood in the pocket?

    Rotten floor joists

It’s just a rendered wall really from outside. But if I put in a few acros with strong boys just above the rotten wood, would that not be enough to hold the wall whilst I replace the wood?

    Rotten floor joists

Honestly this was before my time. I know this used to be a garage and then the extension was built on top. I haven’t connected the new short lengths yet but was going to attach with m10 coach bolts with those timber connectors in between. So the 75cm new wood going into pocket and lining up in...
