We had the burned out pcb and thermistor replaced and the boiler was working again but tonight the burner light wont light up. Thermostat set to 22 degrees etc. Any ideas. Could it be linked to the original problem not being fully /properly diagnosed ie something was causing the pcb to burn out...

Expensive at £425 to fix it!!.

An electrician looked at the motorised valve and it is working and the water now heats up. Very strange.

Managed to get a heating engineer to come out and he found the problem was a burnt out neutral on the PCB. Part will be ordered but why would it burn out. The plastic connection was black. Also do I need a new thermistor?

I do not have TRV's. I tried turning all rads off except the problem rad but 2 of the rads won't turn off and the pipe is now cold leading to the affected radiator. I opened up the lockshield vave. Should I keep it open. Not sure what it does? balances?

AS fa as I know the radiators were all installed at the same time. We have been here 20 years and it has worked fine. I will try and do what you suggest tomorrow and let you know. I have read that the system may need balancing by doing what you suggest then gradually turning them on one at a time.
