    Path edging on a slope

I want to add a path using 450mm paviours x2 wide along the base of a gable end house wall, to give a walkway. The ground slopes away from the wall. I am not sure how to edge the paviours. For the edge: hardcore or concrete then build 2 courses of bricks to level . Then not sure how to finish...

    mains water pump?

The pressure is pretty good mostly, but dips when the house use theirs, e.g. mornings and filling the paddling pool. The valves are all fully open AFAIK. Bristol Water did not mention the supply pressure as any issue on the site visit. I have planning permission to erect a 50mSq shed which I may...

    mains water pump?

The pipe used is black alkathene class D. 280 yards of 1" to the house then 70 yards of 3/4" to my bungalow. Laid in 1979. Class D 1" is 21.9mm bore. Class D 3/4" is 17.5mm bore. My bungalow was garages until 2004, hence the reason for the smaller bore.

    mains water pump?

My bungalow shares the water supply with one house. The water pipe is 350 yards from the Bristol water mains on the road. The flow rate is about 10litres/minute measured by the time takn to fill a 1litre jug. I get low flow rates occassionally so considering a water pump. The plumbing system is...

    Drive gates in the countryside

I am after suggestions for driveway gates on a shared entrance to define the boundary . Slope is 7 degrees. Maybe two gates for cars or one for cars and one for pedestrians? Wooden I guess as a fencing is added to either end of the gates for the boundary. In the pic between the edge of the house...

    Separating water supply

The water pipe from the road supplies two properties, but no meter or inspection chamber on the road, it is charged on rateable value. The pipe is 1" class D black alkathene from the road to my mother's house and 3/4" from my mother's house to mine. The new pipe will be 300m long, through an...

    Shed electrics

I built a shed and moved an external socket within it. The socket is fed from the main cu on a 16A mcb via 2.5mm armoured cable. What is the best way to add lights and a few socket in the shed?

3mx4m shed onto blocks on the flat, floor is going to be 47x125 x4m C24 joists onto joist hangers on the 3m length. Then stud walls and pitched roof. The blocks are laid onto sand. Blocks are three high on the RHS and two high on the LHS. I thought of repeating the middle section at each end...

    Velux on kitchen roof

The exsting windows are small and on one side only so the room is dark. Trusses are 400mm. I have seen pictures with Velux spanning 2-3 trusses but with no noggins. So do Velux make bespoke windows such as 400 wide, as the std ones are 550 minimum, or is it best to span more than one truss?

    exposed valley board failing

As I understand it, you suggest to extend the undercloak and then to retile so the tiles extend further out from the wall? From searching online the undercloak overhang is recommended to be no more than 50mm. Perhaps greater overhang is possible with 300m wide undercloak rather than the current...
