Flat roof extension fascia board fitting

Hi, Is there a way for the return wall fascia boards to run level at the top and hide the fall/pitch of roof on flat roof extension? It’s a warm roof, finished in GRP and I have soffits extending on 3 sides with furrings giving a fall to the front in to a box gutter. I’ve seen a few different...

Roof joists for soffits on flat roof extension

Hi, Carrying out a flat roof extension with warm deck. Just wondering what’s the best way to go about the side walls with the noggins. I’m currently doing PIR insulation in cavity tied back to thermalite block. Would you stop the Internal block height at the usual wall plate height and...

New floor joist for water tanks etc

Hi, just wondering what would be better. I want to reroute the hot water tank in the loft when it gets converted. This part will be studded off the load bearing wall but want the eaves to store the tank etc. Blue line has a load bearing wall beneath Red line- assumed doubled up 8x2 with...

    Concrete floor transition

Thanks. Do you know if you need an expansion gap in screed gong through door thresholds with underfloor heating?

    Concrete floor transition

Hi, I will be putting in a new ground bearing concrete floor in the existing house but due to footings with tree proximity, the extension will have block & beam. Floor make up will be concrete floor then insulation to match the height of block and beam insulation, finished with screed for UFH...

    Wall plate notching

The house is a building site so we are taking out the old ceiling joists as it’ll be easier to install everything

    Wall plate notching

Using packers would sit the floor joists higher, meaning more timber would be cut off. I have to batten on the underside of the rafter to allow more insulation. Would it be an idea if the tiles are removed to batten on top instead, so packing could be used under joists? Sorry, how do you...

    Wall plate notching

Hi everyone. About to undertake a loft conversion. New floor joists will go on to existing wall plates. However these are all out. I can’t pack the new floor joists higher due to shear point on timber. Can the existing wall plate (4x2) be notched at points say 0-30mm to allow new floor...

Rafters unlevel (during loft conversion) (Ed.)

Thanks woody. Obviously rather not remove everything if possible. Is it stupid to fit the new ridge beam to the current ridge board level even though it’s 30mm out over 10 metres?

    Existing rafters for loft conversion

Hi, Thanks for all your previous help as I normally always seem to find the answers to any other enquiry’s I have. Renovating a house atm and the overall build is around 25/30mm out to one side (over around 10m), the brickwork, ceiling joists, wall plate, rafters etc. No cracks on the...

Increasing rafter pitch on lean to extension

Suppose so, just don’t think it’ll look right. So birdsmouth is the only way to finish it on the wall plate? I take it the windows will need to be removed for the lead flashing to go down the sides and under neath with raising the pitch higher?
