What would be the best way to block it up? Cement mix then dot dab plasterboard over it?
Is this just glued onto the wall or is it part of the whole brick?

Yea I finally figured it out. Was the old style plaster on top of cardboard with metal supports. I ripped all this out and replaced with fresh plasterboard sheets and skimmed over. Perfect wall now :)
