    Dealing with PVA on plaster/walls

Hello, I need some advice. I had my ceiling in a bedroom plastered and new coving fitted and the plasterer has obviously used pva before plastering/fitting coving and I am left with about a 2 inch band around the top of the walls where there is pva on the walls. Before I go to emulsion, I have...

    Patchy wall paint advice

Hi Wayne's, Tried a horizontal coat and no real improvement. Wnat would your recommendation be? Would i be better giving the entire wall a light sand and then go to something like ultramatt, on the basis it should be the same white as the other walls, but has less sheen to show patching? Thanks

    Patchy wall paint advice

Thank you for the response. I didnt think to go horizontal as most things recommended vertical but I will most definitely try that. I am by no means a professional but aim to get a good finish. Below is a photo of the wall in question.

Filling gap between patio doors and screed

Hi, Had some new patio doors fitted and I now have a circa 10mm gap approx 15mm deep between the new frames and existing screed. The blue perimeter foam can be seen beneath. What is the best product to fill this with? Is silicone acceptable or should a repair mortar be used? Cheers

    Filling around foundations

Thanks! I've gotten rid of the crap that came out as there was all sorts of big bits in there. Is topsoil a good idea given the rest of the ground is soil etc??

    Filling around foundations

Hi, I've had an extension built and the builder unfortunately filled the areas around the foundation with rubble. Much of this was full bricks and breeze blocks and so would not compact. I've now cleared this out but have a trench around the extension walls and the existing earth. Can you...

    Sanding between coats advice

Hello, This might be a daft question but I'll ask anyway. I've always been taught to sand woodwork between coats for a better finish. Naturally I've always left each coat to fully dry and then sanded and recoated the next day. Anyway, reading the instructions on some primer I've just got it...

    Backfilling round outside of foundation

Thanks. Eventually there will be a patio going up to it but that will be for next year and in that case the full garden will be getting re levelled and groundwork done. This is more to get rid of the gap between the existing garden and the foundation/trench block stages

    Backfilling round outside of foundation

Hi, I had an extension built earlier this year and round the outside of the foundation there is still a bit towards the top where the earth hasn't been fully backfilled. Can this be backfilled with soil provided I stay well below the dpc or does gravel need to be used for drainage? Thanks

    Mist coating over Architrave adhesive

Hello, I had my ceiling re-skimmed and have then fitted supercove lightweight coving using the supercove adhesive/filler. The adhesive states it is overpaintable but when i have been prepping to paint the ceiling i notice there is a band around the edge of the plaster that doesn't turn darker...
