Sorry, there are actually 2 valves/actuators, both wired into a junction box along with cables to the programmer and the boiler. The boiler is working fine, firing up when it's supposed to. It's just that the pump remains on all the time, and I'm not sure if that's right.

Okay I'll do that later. In the meantime I've noticed the boiler panel says: Operation: Standby Flow setp.: 0.0C Flow temp.: 32.9C

Yes muggles, the pump is wired straight into the boiler. It's a closed (pressurised) system serving HW and rads with a motorised valve.
