red Hot or cold, no inbetween.

sounds a good bet I guess, but why did it work fine for so long? I'll put a new 15m tap on it tomorrow and eliminate the problem as I know there is loads of pressure in the normal open taps, thanks for the ideas.

I mean the shower is either scolding hot or freezing cold and cannot be set in between to be use, changing the dial does not vary the temp but moves it from one extreme to the other, there is no 'middle' setting that would be useable.

I've had a volt meter running across the inlet power and appears to be constant at all times when hot or cold.

Lights appear fine and shower appears fine, there is no variation in temp if left alone, if the dial is turned up it Red hot, if turned down it goes totally cold, the temps don't change on there ownwithout the dial being moved, but it only works at both extremes of temp.

There is no variation in temp when just left running, it is either hot or cold depending on the temp dial, no variation at all.

the cold supply water is comming from a 'self cutting' 15 mm tap which I have seen to be a problem with drops in pressure on outside taps before, could this be same if the water pressure has dropped a little overall and gone below limit ? would you suggest I change the self cutter for a better...
