Flexim roof putty for cracked roof tile corners?

Yes, £1.92 for Marley moderns, but I was swapping so many of them, the roof looks like a right mess with the old and new mixed. It's like crazy paving. I'll continue next summer, fed up for now, so I used OB1 and did end up changing for new ones until I ran out tiles. £4-5 delivery in the north...

    No Eaves Protector

I'll revise my earlier answer, having swapped quite a few Marley Moderns on Friday. 30mil thick block of timber works best, one on the tile avove to the right, lift that, timber underneath, then lift the one immediately to the left of the of one you want to remove. Now you canf lift the tile...

Flexim roof putty for cracked roof tile corners?

I have a few Marley Modern tiles where the small lower corner is cracked and the piece gone. If the corner piece is there I've been using OB1 to glue it on, the damage being cosmetic which won't cause a leak. Would it be possible to shape and mold flexim putty to make a new small corner? Or is...

    No Eaves Protector

I use a flat angled metal bar to lift the marley moderns then I place some 40mil thick timber under them in strategic places and wiggle the one I want to remove out. The grooves sometimes make it a bit hard, or there might be those clips with nails to keep them in place but they are always very...

    Ladder on pitched roof advice

In my case, Marley Moderns from 1970, the moss seems to eat the concrete which becomes very crumbly under the moss which is always on the seams. My neighbour says it's because the moss gets frozen in the winter, thaws and freezes constantly, damaging the tile.

Dry ridge system (Manthorpe) installed - will it leak?

Thanks, that puts my mind at ease. That job is fairly difficult for a 60+ year old man who is gingerly stepping on old and brittle Marley Modern tiles from 1970. I was easily able just to lift the old ridge tiles off the mortar bed. I decided against the brackets and screwed the battens on the...

Dry ridge system (Manthorpe) installed - will it leak?

During a few sunny days I dismantled the old Marley Modern angular ridge and replaced it with the new same ridge tiles. Please look at the photos of the plastic union/clips attached. It's not one of those ratchet systems where you place the two tiles in place then push the ratchets in, in...

If Worried About Dry Ridge System Leaking

But I'm not of the roofing world, just a DIYer who only pays someone else if the boiler or radiators need work. Might not look 100% professional or mint, but I won't have to curse that roofer who didn't give a damn or had too low an IQ to understand how water always tries to find the easiest way.

If Worried About Dry Ridge System Leaking

I suspect you're right, I haven't seen the kit yet myself, but someone was very suspicious earlier in an earlier post.

If Worried About Dry Ridge System Leaking

The ridge tiles are bedded in and pointed, where's the air going in?

If Worried About Dry Ridge System Leaking

In my case the ventilation is plentiful via other ways than the ridge area.

If Worried About Dry Ridge System Leaking

I will but someone was worried about it leaking.

If Worried About Dry Ridge System Leaking

Saw some older threads about this. If you're not worried about ventilation like I'm not, I'm doing the dry system this Spring and am replacing an air tight mortar ridge, so there was no ventilation through the ridge in the first place. The unions might not be watertight and the membrane might...

Suddenly "kidnapping" becomes something someone is not supposed to do, LOL. I guess it all depends on who is doing it.

South African Knowledge Needed on Footware

These are my granddad's puny legs in the early 80's in Bramley, Johannesburg. We used to wear this kind of a slippers in the 70's and 80's, they were quite popular in SA. They are not shoellies or vellies. I'm trying to identify them, perhaps someone is still manufacturing them. Google or its AI...
