Thanks for the replies all - what I've done is follow cdbe's advice - I've spent so long trying to get to get people to do the right thing and just vent the flue upwards (it's discharging into an enclosed entryway), I didn't really think about trying to deflect the plume. So I've grabbed a bit...
It's not so much health, more damage to my property - there's a lot of condensation building up under the soffit (which isn't a vapour barrier so I don't know if there's potential for damp to build up there), I've been recording this on and off and noticed some (more) run-off down the wall...
Thanks for the reply - I'd need to get back in touch and as this was done through the house insurance, I'd probably need to be able to demonstrate damage, before I could access a solicitor again.
Although I assumed chartered. as heating engineer would quote approved doc J - which isn't legally...
Hello all,
Need some advice, I think the question fits this forum best.
Have a problem with the location of a neighbour's flue (posted the full details on the plumbing subforum) - I've been advised by a solicitor that I would need to get a surveyor's report (I'm assuming it's to reference...
One other question from those regs, page 50 - those distances are they legal requirements ? Why I ask is because :
"A way of meeting this requirement would be to locate flue outlets as shown in Diagram 34"
Would not should
Distance between the two flues (just measured) is 110cm.
Also my own flue - yes that did cross my mind, didn't think it would be an issue as it's just hot air and not near guttering etc. But if needed, will fit a conversion kit.
Right, I'll start on the complaint letter to the council.
Thanks both for the replies.
I suppose the question I'm asking is, am I overreacting ? If all this is going to cause is condensation, then I can live with it.
A bit of background - this was installed 3yrs ago - a lot of time was taken up getting an inspection sorted during COVID, followed by...
Hello all,
I've been searching and I can't see any similar thread. I'm after an opinion as to if I have anything to worry about with respect to the location of my neighbour's flue.
It's situated in an entry way, approx 45cm from my wall, guttering and soffit - I'm getting a fair bit of...
Nothing more I can say, it's internal - picture supplied, it's 1.5 or so wide backing onto a steel support (installed). Not that deep.
If you can't help then don't post.
Hello all,
After a bit of advice, builder has left a gap between wooden door frame and brickwork (1.5 cm or so width - across the length of the top of the frame, not too deep).
Assume mortar would be OK to plug gap ?
Thanks,
