Timers, Thermostats, MZCV, Boilers...How does it all hang together

Thanks Ian/Stem what exactly does the "synchron motor in the CH valve that needs changing" mean to a layman? funny enough I've not had the problem since, personally I think it was one of the MZCV that had stuck. Also when you say the head can be replaced without draining is this a simple...

Timers, Thermostats, MZCV, Boilers...How does it all hang together

is it possible that this was the problem. Cheers Ian I'll do that when I get home... These valves are at the side of the boiler which is in the loft, no rads above this height, though 2 up the stairs. Hoping if it comes to it maybe I'd get away with shutting the header tank off, closing the...

Timers, Thermostats, MZCV, Boilers...How does it all hang together

Absolutely fantastic reply Stem and makes it all more understandable. Thank you very much as I greatly appreciate the explanation. I had an issue at the weekend whereby the boiler wouldn't switch off. Though the thermostat wasn't calling for heat and the timer was actually off the radiators...

Timers, Thermostats, MZCV, Boilers...How does it all hang together

Can someone please give me a brief overview of how timers, thermostats and boilers all interact in an CH system. For example, my set up is as follows: I have a gravity feed CH system being serviced by a Baxi Solo HE Condensing boiler I have a Horstmann Channelplus H27XL2 channel timer I...

LED lighting any advice appreciated thanks

Thanks for your responses, these are not actually to produce any great light but more subtle (left on) proving a soft glow more a feature than practical. The bathroom already has plenty of ceiling light. It's just so difficult to determine what wattage to buy. LEDs kits are quite expensive so...

LED lighting any advice appreciated thanks

I was hoping someone can give me some advice on LED lighting. We recently got our bathroom renovated and during the process we put cabling in for lighting my other half wanted. This cabling is 5amp lighting cable connected to spur boxes and finally back to an RCD at the mains box. A separate...

Help me find a replacement ceramic fuse numbered T1H250V ple

Thanks for both responses I appreciate it. It's a 5 x 20 fuse and no other markings on it except the BS kitemark, CCC W and the word jet. i understand what you said re blowing again. That's not a problem I'll just ditch it if this is the case. At least I know what fure to buy to replace...

Help me find a replacement ceramic fuse numbered T1H250V ple

Hi there I was hoping someone would be able to provide a piece of advice. I have an Ikea lamp with dimmer switch and the fuse has went in the switch. Removed and checked with Ohm meter. It is a small ceramic fuse and has the wording T1H250V on it but the only equivalent I can see in the UK is...

Single radiator not heating up as much as others..

Thanks D appreciated... I'll check this out. I closed all rads except the one in question and it did get hot a lot hotter than normal.. but when I opened the others again the temp dropped..I can't help thinking it could be a faulty valve..but I don't want to drain the whole system to replace...

Single radiator not heating up as much as others..

No it wasn't balanced AFAIK ie no one went around adjusting radiators, just all valves open.. I'll check out the faq and see what I can glean from that. Doesn't appear to be air in the rad as water comes out when you open the bleed nipples (one on each panel). Thanks..

Single radiator not heating up as much as others..

Hi folks just a newbie to the forum so be gentle. I have checked the forums and cannot see anything similar. It’s the old chestnut of a single radiator not heating up as much as the others. I have 12 radiators in our home and 11 of them blast out heat but one only gets about 50% warm compared...
