No I forgot to photo! Have got a sample sealed in a bag but not with me. There is no wood, however we know the joists have gone with damp! Its behind the tiles above the bath

Help I replaced a broken tile in my son"s recently acquired flat 's bathroom. The next door tile was loose, when I took it off there was a triffid -like rooting system brown , flexible and wiry growing amok in the adhesive.Looks like it could be behind the rest. What is it please??
