I've been telling the family for along time that these are not meant to go down the drains. Now I think they've learnt the hard way.

There is not access for rodding, I have trying snaking and this retrieved a few of the wipes. Plunging made a full tesco bag of wipes come up as well as plenty of nasty stuff over a period of several hours

The black thing feels hard, do I need to try and remove this black thing?

By manhole do you mean a large grid possibly covered by a slab as this is in neighnours garden

There is no manhole in this garden. There is only another hopper directly to the right of this one which collect gutter water. The 2nd hooper is connected to the one I have an issue with.

And the sink water comes out of the hole nearest the top of gully

When we flush that water comes up that small gap at top of that black thing

It serves a sink in the downstairs toilet and the toilet itself
