The heating works ok but hot water will suddenly go cold,does this mean a new switch on dhw microswitch ,does this also mean emptying the boiler of water

Before drilling, you need to find out where the water is, how is this done?

I need to find the wattage of a soil heating cable and as I have a multi metre ,what setting do I put the meter on to find this out?

Gasgeezer.The reason for my original question was because the "professional" who fitted it ,didn't fit a boiler drain cock,he said the way to drain it was to empty the radiators.I take it,that this time when it is emptied ,a boiler drain cock should be fitted where the hot water flow comes...

I need to drain down the hot water system and also release the boiler pressure.Will shutting the hot water outlet off,and shutting the cold feed in ,as well as draining the hot taps do this?I know it will take the hot water out of the pipe but will it release the boiler pressure?

Where abouts is the pressure diff pin? Just a thought but the boiler locks out before any heat has a chance to build up susually within 10 or 20 seconds,does throw new light on anything?Ignition rate how do I check that?

Hello Thank you for your reply.The model is S D 30e Fanned flue combi boiler.The "switches" are the dhw switch and ch switch ,small plug on type that have two wires coming from them.They are described in the manual as Water pressure micro switch and pressure differential micro switch.I forgot...

My combi boiler goes to lockout everytime I draw hot water or use the heating,although once the heating is running it will run for ages if the thermostat is set low .The problem started when new switches were fitted after draining down,many whooshes and gurglings were heard but have disappeared...
