I've had some landscaping work done and the builder smashed the waste pipe for my sink and dishwasher getting his digger in and out.
The pipe is buried beneath the kitchen floor so it can't be accessed from inside without considerable damage. While the pipe is cracked at outer layer of brick...
Also a consideration. The first landscapers that came to quote on the job weren't convinced that the space worked especially well with a pergola due to the differing roof heights from the 2x extensions that have been added over the years (see pics in the first post).
I think it might work...
Yeah, I've seen these and I quite like them. If we can turn, angle it then I think it'll work really nicely. Will run it past the mrs to see what she thinks.
Thanks for the reply, as explained in my post I already have internal blinds. I'm trying to add shade to the patio area whilst boosting the level of shade inside.
We're having the garden landscaped at the moment and as it faces south west, we get a lot of sun through the kitchen/patio doors...although not when this pic was taken:
While we have internal blinds, the heat gain/glare is still quite annoying so I'm looking at a number of options to shade...
Update: I ended up finding a roofer who was happy to replace the flat roof with GRP and install a Korniche lantern for me. I then found EOS Rooflights: https://www.eosrooflights.co.uk/ who supplied a insulated upstand to fit the reveal and a Korniche lantern to fit the upstand.
Total cost was...
You can see in this pic from when we bought the house that the living room would probably become quite dark if the roof lantern were removed. That said...I'm sure we could make it work but if the flat roof needs to be rebuilt, I'd quite happily pay a bit extra to the natural light coming in.
