    Plug melted in the socket!

The same socket has been used for a lot before, laptop, 3 bar halogen heater and printer at the same time, this time it only had the heater plugged in. The socket is a duel socket, the other has a triple adapter that always has the TV, sky and DVD player connected - that didn't have a problem...

    Plug melted in the socket!

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah it is her own home and the extension is 13, it has been used a long time without a problem, the heater is new though. I really think this is something to do with the heater. Not sure what you mean by this.

    Plug melted in the socket!

Hey, I have an extension lead which only had 1 thing plugged in and turned on, a blow heater from B & M. It was in my grannys and she told me that she had to move the plug (Push it in) to get it to turn on because it kept going off, when I went to check the plug it was VERY hot, it burnt...

Unusual TV plug..blue & brown wires wrapped around circl

Sorry, just ignore that part completely.... It wasn't really relevant and didn't make any difference. The outside of the lead does seem fine so I don't think it is anything to do with the wire, and because it has just been sitting around, it hasn't been touched in a long time. I thought...

Unusual TV plug..blue & brown wires wrapped around circl

Sorry, I meant twist the actual blue wire and brown wire separate, I dont think it would make much difference because the current should still travel through the full length as long as its connected to the plug. Maybe the lead is damaged... It has just been sitting around for a very long...

Unusual TV plug..blue & brown wires wrapped around circl

Someone stood on the plug, that was the only problem. I didn't fix the plug at the time because I wasn't using the TV but it was working perfectly.

Unusual TV plug..blue & brown wires wrapped around circl

Hey EFL, Thanks very much for the reply and help :) I have tried to do this using the wires that were wrapped around the orange circle but it didn't work. I'm going to give it another go now - The wires I "unwrapped" werent twisted together, maybe they needed to be connected to each...

Unusual TV plug..blue & brown wires wrapped around circl

The TV was working fine before, the plug itself was broke a long time ago (Not the connections) so I just have to know how to do the connection to get it working.. There's no problem with the TV itself at all :)

Unusual TV plug..blue & brown wires wrapped around circl

From the back of the TV: JVC Model AV-28F3SJ 220-240 V - 50 hz The cable just has the brown and blue, both having around 10 thin copper (looking anyway) wires that were wrapped around the orange circle, I unwrapped those and connected them to a normal plug but no power at all.

Unusual TV plug..blue & brown wires wrapped around circl

Im looking for the camera here now :) But I dont have the actual plug from it - I haven't used the TV in around 2 years. What I have is the lead for the plug coming from the TV then at the end a small orange circle (Around 1.5 cm, hollow) and has the blue and brown wires wrapped around...

Unusual TV plug..blue & brown wires wrapped around circl

Hey I just brought an old TV I had to mine after my flatscreen just stopped working - No idea what happened to it. But the TV I have is a 32" widescreen, 1 of the big models. I haven't seen the type of plug on it before, the end of the wire from the TV has an orange circle with the blue...

Radiator not working in new gas install

Thanks for the reply :) I got the right valve open no problem but the left just wont budge 1 bit, thats even after I took off the cap and tried pliers, Im pushing it to the point I think might even be too much and break off the valve tip so dont want to do anymore. Opening the right valve...
