Filling valve leaking after bleeding radiators

I didn't have a grip but followed your advice on opening and closing the valve a few times and it appears to almost stop the leak to a weep now. I'll see how it goes overnight. Thanks for all your help!

Filling valve leaking after bleeding radiators

Not sure what you mean by 'is it the nut that connects the pipe to the valve' but here is a photo of the side which hopefully answers your question. The valve is on a slant but seems to be solid and doesn't move up or down.

Filling valve leaking after bleeding radiators

I didn't have any PTFE tape but I found some washers that almost fit. Bit of a tight squeeze but they seem to do the job and no leaking from the caps! :) So now just the nut join thing (what do you call it lol) under the lever that leaking a bit. It actually seems before the lever. Do you...

Filling valve leaking after bleeding radiators

These are the two caps. This is what they were like when I took them out the first time. Should they both have washers in? In theory, aren't the caps just for show as the valve should do all the work in stopping the water?

Filling valve leaking after bleeding radiators

The one on the right is leaking from under the lever as well as the end. The one on the left is just leaking from the end. Don't know about the pressure gauge, it might have leaked in the past but isn't leaking now and hasn't leaked for the last few years.

Filling valve leaking after bleeding radiators

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. I have bled my radiators then had to re pressurise the boiler as it was under 1 bar. After it got up to pressure I turned off all four valves but the 2 black ones (bottom ones as hard to see colour in photo) are leaking. Why does it leak when it didn't leak...

Is there any way to get cement/mortar marks off indian sandstone paving?

Yeah, I think I'm going to try that even though it looks like the acid is not good for sandstone but I will use it on a spare slab to see what it does

Is there any way to get cement/mortar marks off indian sandstone paving?

Hi, I bought some reclaimed indian sandstone paving and realised that the previous owners had laid the slabs the wrong way! So now the correct face has mortar marks round it. See photos. Is there any way to remove the marks without it looking as obvious as it does now? What's the best way to...

Can't get mortar mix consistency right. Is it me or the sand?

I think I watched too much youtube videos to try and get the perfect mortar mix! My less than perfect looking mortar actually seems to still do the trick

Can't get mortar mix consistency right. Is it me or the sand?

Thanks. Isn't sharp sand the recommended sand to use for mortar mix? That appears to be what most other websites say. I was more concerned whether the sand I had was sharp sand or not. What do you think of the consistency in the video?

Can't get mortar mix consistency right. Is it me or the sand?

Hi all, I'm trying to install a patio and got to the stage when I am about to lay the slabs but I can't get the mortar mix right. The mortar is very loose and grainy and doesn't seem to bind. I also can't get it to hold into a ball no matter how much or little water I put in. The mix is...

    Expanding loft hatch

Actually just one more question ... In your opinion, will this saw do? http://www.wickes.co.uk/powagrip-medium-cut-handsaw-55cm/invt/186772/ This is the only saw I have the moment.

Cheers for all your advice. I'll give it a go in the next week or so and report back with what a mess I have made!

    Expanding loft hatch

thanks for your help! what tools would you recommend for the job of cutting out the lath and plaster? Do i need a special type of saw to cut through the plaster?

    Expanding loft hatch

Sorry, the figures are wrong, the existing hole is about 30cm x 40cm, so what I need to cut out is a further 30cm x 30cm. I just guessed the figures before after taking the picture. The loft insulation surveyor told me that I would need to expand it to get the rolls of insulation in. The...
