It looks like there was no secret gutter on the rear of the roof between the properties so they're going to add one in hoping to resolve the issue.

Yes it seems like it's just in the middle of the house. When the loft was boarded we could not see any damp or wet patches at all. The water is coming in on the internal wall adjoining next doors. It seems yo be pretty much in line with the ridge.
