freddymercurystwin - thanks for your reply! the multifoil was already in place before i started with plasterboard, and was fitted by a builder, I had no idea there was any controversy about the effectiveness of it..! I'm hoping its not total rubbish as it was all paid for and in place some...

Has anyone ever fitted battens for plasterboard to the inside of a loft roof, over multi foil insulation...? As I see that one of the multi foil layers is a soft foam like material, I am wondering if this will get tangled up if a screw passes through it to the rafters, but the technical sheet...
