Rad not heating, boiler switching to standby

Vokera Compact 28. Towel warmer replaced with Rad today by friend.. System repressurised. Now 1 rad stone cold. Lockshield and TRV fully open. Tried closing down all other rads to force through and boiler switches off to standby mode (flashing green light). I presume air in the system. Tried...

    Replacing standard efficiency boiler

Have a failing Vokera Compact 28 situated outside kitchen in a brick non-insulated boiler house. Have another identical boiler in attic serving upstairs. Have 13 Rads downstairs all of older pressed steel period style. Living in Scotland I can replace like for like with a Vokera Compact 28SE...

    2 wifi thermostat controls

Have bought a house with 2 Combi boilers running upstairs and downstairs circuits. Would it be possible to install 2 identical wifi thermostat controls and configure for each boiler or would this lead to wifi frequency conflict as they share same frequency?

    No earth at socket

Further developments. Crawled around in roof space around attic conversion. Appears to be a radial circuit, but without multimeter guess could be long spur. All seemed OK until I discovered 2.5mm T+E disappearing into space above alcove with 1.5 3 core and earth appearing on other side. There is...

    No earth at socket

Have opened up all of the faulty sockets with no earth. 3 of them had satisfactory wiring. In 2 the earth wire had become disconnected. Re-connected the earth wir made no difference to the socket tester result. All 5 have no satisfactory earth reading. 2 sockets are on opposite faces of an...

    No earth at socket

I opened several sockets. 2 had the 2 earth wires covered in g and e sleeve but twisted together and not connected to 1 of the 2 earth terminals. Reconnecting appropriately did not make any difference. I can't tell whether 3 of the no earth sockets are on a long spur or part of a true ring main...

    No earth at socket

MCB tripped due to minor roof leak causing water to dribble down thru roof felt and onto external aspect of plasterboard in attic conversion. Water came into contact with back of double socket. Isolated system and disconnnected 2.5mm T&E supplying socket. Double socket appears on ring main...

    LOST MAIN EARTH TO PROPERTY

I will be commissioning an "expert", just hope better than the last "expert". To avoid damage would the 16mm G+Y be best running through its own conduit, and I presume this should be as short a distance as possible? The existing conduit disappears behind a thick supporting wall into dead...

    LOST MAIN EARTH TO PROPERTY

SP did suggest getting a spark in anyway to make a further assessment, but were essentially satisfied that a good earth was provided. If the VIR tails are SP's property would a spark not replace them, or would that have to be SP's job? Thanks for the advice re 16mm G+Y. God knows how that...

    LOST MAIN EARTH TO PROPERTY

Scottish Power out today. Fortunately they agreed that it was their responsibility to maintain the earthing arrangements. Extremely poor earth at incoming point to service head. Has replaced service head and fitted new earth cable as old meccano had lost contact. Mains earth restored. Advised...

    LOST MAIN EARTH TO PROPERTY

Distance from service head to present meter and CU is approx 10m, but complicated as it traverses dead space walled in when property was converted into upstairs and downstairs.

    LOST MAIN EARTH TO PROPERTY

What would be the solution? Does DNO have responsibility for this?

    LOST MAIN EARTH TO PROPERTY

The steel conduit runs down behind a wall to enter a very old metal box sited on a wall. A further metal pipe disappears below into the wall and thence into the ground. The box appears circa 1950-60 with SSWEB written on it.
