Location of gas boiler flue (with a twist)

It's a bit mute now, as we've gone through the ceiling/flat roof anyway (and in doing so, are now much closer to a window, albeit on our property, than before. Therefore, it could be argued the current arrangement is less safe, but hey it now meets whatever regs are being debated). Just to be...

Location of gas boiler flue (with a twist)

You're not quite right there. Though I'm scratching my head a little about why you seem confrontational. Ok, if you feel the need, I guess. I'm simply not an angry person. Though there's lots of them about. I am not wanting to scrimp at all. A vertical flue will be about 150 quid extra...

Location of gas boiler flue (with a twist)

Thanks Cgas, that seems more helpful. Well, the middle doc at least, which says 600mm to a boundary line. However, is that just the manufacturer's booklet, not the actual regulations themselves? If so, they could well be guilty of misinterpreting them, when writing their installation...

Location of gas boiler flue (with a twist)

Well it would be difficult to reach the flue, if nothing else. And the neighbours will happily sign an agreement that they will not obstruct the flue. Not sure what else I could do. The problem is more that the fitter is unlikely to want to do the work, even though he knows it'll be safe (he...

It's a Worcester or Ideal. What you thinking?

They don't state anything about boundaries more than the full Building Regs.

Location of gas boiler flue (with a twist)

OK, I'll see if I can edit the post down. I was just trying to be thorough. Do you have whatever paperwork/regulation which states that this cannot be done? The regs do not say that it cannot be done. I'm happy to accept it, but either the regs allow it OR they are badly worded.

Location of gas boiler flue (with a twist)

I've got a prime case of Gas Safe pointing to Building Regs and Building Regs pointing to Gas Safe. And a gas fitter (and me) stuck in the middle. I have a domestic combi boiler, fitted donkey's years ago. The flue went out through our wall that is alongside the neighbour's garden. It vents...

Building regs - flues discharging on to adjoining properties

That's fantastic Woody - thank you. I will start another thread, soon as I get chance. In this instance, the risk of them building something 'up against' the flue are utterly minimal. The existing boiler has been there for 20 years or so and the location is well away (100m) from their main...

Building regs - flues discharging on to adjoining properties

Well, it seems this thread is a little old, but I'm hoping that some of you are still out there and getting notifications. I have found something amiss in the Approved Document J (thank you to "theoldun" for the links - really helpful). It concerns a similar situation to this one, but Approved...
