    roof vents?

Thanks catlad. Did wonder about that but have no experience of insulated boards and it looks like there's a lot of choice out there. Didn't know whether I'd need to consider condensation or moisture membranes (is that right?). Any suggestions would be very welcome.

    roof vents?

Hi and thanks for a quick reply. It's probably around 1950 but not sure. the slates look old and well weathered. Just cut larger hole in plasterboard ceiling (which is going to be reboarded anyway) and had a proper look. No insulation at all but a very low pitch and lots of beams. Reckon the only...

Hi Looking to insulate a pitched roof space above a ground level extension. Have to get the ceiling reboarded and skimmed so thought we should use the opportunity to insulate. Have been advised that cheapest and easiest way is for us to cut hole and put in rockwool style insulation leaving a 6"...

Help! Hole under my new front door leaving exposed joists.

EB1caneyB - thanks so much for some reassuring advice. Do you know whether I should be concerned about penetrating damp if the seal isn't tight as it would have been had the frame been set on a flat surface.

Help! Hole under my new front door leaving exposed joists.

Hi Have created an album with photos of the door - first time i've done this so I hope the pictures are accessable. Unfortunately the hole is not really visible without removing the internal cill, all the pics show is the crumbly cement put in by the builder to keep the rain out. kath.

Have just had an oak front door and sidelights fitted, custom made and fitted by a joiner recommended by a trusted builder. The joiners had to remove a few bricks either side of the door to make a floor level space for sidelights and also remove a concrete step which turned out to be about a...

    Vaillant combi

Thanks so much to agile and chris for a very prompt reply. Have been on a very steep learning curve with plumbing since moving up here and it's really nice to know there's good advice out there! Just checked outlet pipe and drips are at a rate of about 1 per second, some a bit faster.

    Vaillant combi

Just had alterations done to radiators and pipework - pressure went down on our vaillant boiler to 0 within an hour or so of plumbers leaving. Checked for leaks (can't find any) rang plumber who told us to turn blow off valve until it clicked. Did that and boosted pressure up to 1.4 - Pressure...
