Thank you for responding. Much appreciated.
The nut on the tap is the headgear nut - quite large, but won't budge. I have been using an adjustable spanner on it - i will try some wd40 on it as you have kindly suggested.
The plastic hook in the cistern i anaged to get off by using some...
After my little problem the other day (which seco services kindly helped me to sort out) :) I have 2 little jobs that I am trying to undertake today, and have a few small hiccups that I'd like to ask if I may?
(1) Bathroom's cold tap (fed from the cold water tank) is dripping, not majorly...
Thanks - i will do that. I suppose it will leel up to the same as that in the cold water tank-the cold water tank's water levelThis is a great site and I am very thankful to seco services and also littleleaks for that last point! Thanks again, all the best.
seco!!! i have a dishwasher that is HOT and COLD feed and did it on that pipe! and yeaaahhh a big clog of insulation came flying out of the open vent pipe!!!!!!! problem sorted as hot water now runs!! one last point though if i may and thanbks for everything - the vent pipe is now full of...
i know what you mean now - as the cylinder is full of water the blockage will shift up the vent.
anyway i am annoyed (with myself and the stress of it all) - thanks for helping though you've been great, but after pulling the washing machine out, i find it is a cold fill only.
is...
one way valve like a check valve is that?
theres no water upstairs even so as you say the blockage must be before those taps.
maybe the blockage may bw blown into the hot water tank and not out the vent... does this mean a big problem? i'll see if i have a jubilee clip to join the...
OK, will take a look. Where will this shift the blockage too?? (I think my machine is both hot and cold fill.. will check now). Is this trick also used for some airlocks, I have heard of a washing machine trick but did not know what it was for?!!
have tried it, with the taps closed, and water come out of the pipe inside the cold water tank, but no insulation or anything. opened the hot tap and still no hot water. :(
ok i'll get my son to give me a hand again and give it a go.
so the obstruction should basically be blown back into the cold water tank through the hole outlet where it got in? if not, i should try it the other way and it may come out the vent pipe?
one last point before i try it...
Ok will give this a go. Do you mean water will come out of the vent pipe, or the insulation or whatever it is that is causing the blockage will? should i close all hot taps whilst doing this?
The lid is not on my cold tank - do not know how long it has been off - it was just a piece of chipboard rested over the tank. Maybe it blew off with the winds a few weeks or more ago. There looks to be bits of old loft insulation floating in the tank and in the water itself. Is this the...
