if the shoer cubicle leaks is it because its put together properlt not alighned or is a poor silicon my plumber insists that leaks are common amd im worrying over nothing bit its constanly laeaking for last 12 months also my water dosent drain away properly, why is that

can anybody please help, used stick likes ****e silicon to seal a shower cubicle,it leaks constantly can anyone advise is it water based my plumber who has installed swears blind to it, lost trust in him 12 months later it keeps on leaking in various places his advice just use some more silicon...
