    Flickering PIR

Yeah, that would be the backup plan, but the PIR light still works. If I got a different PIR, it would have the same connectors, and maybe the same problem anyway?

    Flickering PIR

Its about 18 months old, only a cheap Wickes 120W own brand one. Looks like it is intermittant contact between the concave bulb holder contacts, and the domed contact ends of the bulb. So if I spin/rotate the bulb around in the PIR, at a certain point it makes a stable contact. I've tried...

    Flickering PIR

Our outside PIR security light has started flickering. Upon further inspection, it appears to be the contact of the connectors between the bulb (R7S?), and the two springy bulb holder either side. When I rotate the bulb, at a certain point the light is stable, so my guess is crappy electrical...

Bathroom pull cord change to switch

All working now. Just re-ran a 3 core+pe instead of the twin core+pe, so the PIR had a neutral, as well as live and live switched. Just got to **** around with the light/time settings now...

Bathroom pull cord change to switch

Yes to the last sentence? I think maybe I can replace the twin core+earth that went to the pull cord, with a 3 core+earth from the light fitting. Perhaps it would work then, as the PIR I guess need a live and neutral to power it?

Bathroom pull cord change to switch

Hooked up the PIR where the pull cord was, applied power, and the extractor fan works, but the bathroom light flickers. I can hear the PIR click if I move my hand in front of it, but the light is no good. It is a CFL lamp, so that may be an issue? The other problem might be the live and...

Bathroom pull cord change to switch

Well, I am looking more at a PIR idea now, as it would be a hell of a lot less work. Looking at one of these flush style PIRs: http://www.screwfix.com/p/lap-indoor-ceiling-flush-pir/47121 This would mean it would protrude through into the loft. I know with the recessed spot lights you have to...

Bathroom pull cord change to switch

Thanks. Are steel fish tapes just as good as rods? Trying to assemble all the bits I'll need when I go down Screwfix! I was looking at an alternative, which is just to replace the pull cord for a PIR?

Bathroom pull cord change to switch

Hi, I'm looking at changing the current pull cord that controls the light and extractor fan, which is currently inside the bathroom, to a switch outside the bathroom. Up in the loft, I can see where the pull cord white twin core cable goes through the roof. So my plan was to take this cable...
