Bernard,
Many thanks for your reply. That was all I was actually looking for.
I can get the parts at cost plus 5% so it kind of makes a difference knowing which part is needed.
If I was located in Bedford you would be receiving a call.
Once again thank you.
Oh my.
I should "have a change in career" really?
Are you unable to read & comprehend my original post ? I clearly stated that the 3 port valve (18 years old) was faulty & passing water through to the CH hence why it was replaced
The Cylinder stat was an old HTS3, which I replaced as it too...
I'm an electrical engineer so heating controls are bread & butter whereas boiler internals aren't, hence why I have a gas safe cert for when the boiler was moved as I don't touch gas.
No I don't feel lucky at all, and judging by the responses on here it pretty much confirms my concerns.
I very much doubt potential customers will be queing up to call.
That's my last post on the matter.
Jeez I ask a straight forward question. I will be away whilst someone comes to look at the boiler problem leaving my wife to deal with it. Hardly an ideal situation as she doesn't have a clue about heating apart from wanting to be kept warm & washed daily in hot water hence my question I.e...
Can Daniel or anyone point me in the right direction as to what my fault is ? So at least I can point the engineer in the right direction from the start & not managing to get my leg pulled  along the way
Cheers guys
Daniel,
I'm trying to establish if I should just simply buy a new boiler as a new gas valve is £160 plus fitting & the boiler is 18 years old now, if it's a couple of quid for a new pilot / burner jet then I may as well run it until it finally packs up.
