Sink S trap into open drain

Thank You Madrab. That is what i will do. Is the anti-vac bit necessary in my case or for the sake of an extra £1.50 i may as well have that feature?

Sink S trap into open drain

Thankyou Madrab. As the drain is open with air gap then there is no suck on liquid to get a syphon going? Plus do we need a trap at all under sink as the outside open drain in the ground will have water barrier to stop smells coming into open air around house and the sink drain pipe hovers over...

Sink S trap into open drain

We have an S trap on our utility sink that exits the house into an open drain outside. So its not a closed system as air will join the exiting water before it enters the sewer. So is that why we dont have a P trap with vertical air vent valve under sink?

    Storage heater under kitchen worktop?

Can a storage heater be fitted under a worktop? Will the heat warp the worktop? Maybe a metal guard over the heater grill but the whole volume of air under worktop will be warm. Somebody else on the site has posted about heater under worktop and asking about adding a grill in worktop to allow...

Attaching a timer to a Storage Heater

Hi john. Infra red radiation heats the objects it points at and not the air. Just like when the sun is out on a ski slope you are warm despite the air being cold. Storage heaters work on convection heating the air. If someone opens the front door that air escapes but infra red keeps you warm...

Attaching a timer to a Storage Heater

Is this thread too old to add to? I want to do a similar thing except replace all the storage heaters with infra red panels that will heat the fabric of the house and not bricks. Then i want timers on each either controlled at fusebox or at each wall switch. This will future proof the heating as...

    economy 7 & storage heaters. Considering econom10.

ahh yes thanks electronicsuk. I knew economy 10 switched all its sockets to cheap at the off-peak times. I didn't realize (or forgot) economy 7 did too. Yes so I just re-wire the radial to the on peak board and put a timer on there to select which night/day hours to come on. Cheers

    economy 7 & storage heaters. Considering econom10.

Thanks owain and stern. Yes I wish I had spurred off the ring from the bedroom next door before I had tiled the bathroom! To spur off a neighboring socket now would be messy. At least mess in the fusebox cupboard is not seen.

    economy 7 & storage heaters. Considering econom10.

aha thanks "ban.." . A picture speaks 983 words. So this timer will take 2 mcb inputs: 1 from off-peak box and other from on-peak box?

    economy 7 & storage heaters. Considering econom10.

This topic has been debated a lot on here so far. I mainly understand the tariff and meter/box differences. I am considering an oil filled towel rail in the bathroom instead of a storage heater. Unfortunately I don't have an on-peak supply in there for when the towel rail is cold during the day...
