That's scuppered me now then with the worry around timber of floor boards.
Do the REDWOOD ones in the first post mean anything to anyone quality wise?
Re the screwing each down question, its not i mind or don't have a drill i was just wondering if it was normal practise.
With a 8' x 2'...
Thanks for all the responses.
The laser level idea for packing is great, and seems consensus is floor board or ply.
No one has mentioned floorboards might curl up which was a big worry of mine.
Floor boards from my quote are twice as dear, but i have a contact so its working out the same...
Thanks. I must admit i prefer the idea of floorboards, but read somewhere nowadays they may curl up or something.
i know the newer chipboard is far more dense than the stuff i took up, but with my floor being a little uneven i can imagine it working loose even when screwing.
I thought...
Thanks john,
I've been assured the chipboard mentioned here is Flooring Grade chipboard which is used in many new builds. I'm just wanting to know if floor boards are better.
Happy to look at ply too, but not sure if you get T&G ply unless people know otherwise??
Guys i expect this has been mentioned many times, but my searching for nights on end has just turned up lots of squeaking threads and not this specific.
-Rather large 4 bed detached undergoing renovation. Built ~1977
-Decided to rip all the old 18mm chipboard up. Some had broke (was flood in...
Do you need the constant temp controller instead of the H01B or as well as? Sorry for the hijack :)
Is the model number for the constant controller a VT200?
Anyone know if these things work well with mixed heating destinations? i.e low temp UFH ~ 40o downstairs and normal temp rads upstairs?
Thanks for that.
Indeed the ASHP is on a south wall in the garage. The ducting is all good quality install (separate company did the ducting).
I've also moved my HWT vitocell 300b into the garage to be near the ASHP and if i decide to buy a gas boiler hopefully will have room for that...
Indeed, which starts driving the cost up. I do have a buffer vessel that was installed and dont forget currently i DONT have a gas boiler.
I'm trying to find the most effective method.
- UFH is a definite requirement downstairs now.
- I've got the ASHP, HW tank + buffer cylinder already...
Wondered this, but the costs of doing that are Very high. I also think a buffer tank is needed for this set up which i do have, but can get rid of if dont try and run 2 systems.
I dont have a Gas boiler see and setup costs of the ASHP into the HW tank and all the plumbing etc from the quote...
Edit: added models of current equipment
Hey.
I''m considering something for ease but not sure if its a bad idea.
I have a largish 4 bed detached bought recently. Owners had left the country and house had a flood so was a bit of a do-up project.
They had an ASHP installed in...
Absolutely. Hence me ripping it all out and starting again.
I've had a guy who knows the stuff and how it should be done really well, however the costs just dont work out.
He does'nt have a plumber see so has had to get another to quote for the pipe work and he knows about the setup etc and...
Thanks for the replies.
Indeed the ASHP should be set to run constantly. However it was being triggered to run from an old rotary timer with a,b,c,d. This IMO is wrong straight away. The pumps were also driving from this old timer to circulate the heating circuit so without pumps on the HW...
I'll try not to make this a lengthy initial post but have lots of information i can feed into it. (Please bear with the read...there may be some work for someone here)
So...
Bought a house as a bit of a do-up project after it had a flood.
House came with V old Gas boiler + open vented Rad...
Thanks again guys.
So It may be best to go for the liner in the end as you say the 8" clay may not draw correctly?
I can't go sump on the bottom of the clay liner as my stove flue will be slightly above the bottom of the clay liner. I guess i could smash a bit off, but would be unsure of...
Thanks for that i'll have a good read through.
I've had a couple of HETAS people around and due to my arrangement its not a clear "do it this way". I've even seen the HETAS installation guide and they dont have an example for my setup.
The guy recommended doing what i suggested in going...
